Happy Mother's Day From Lolli 💐
This Mother's Day may feel a little different than past years. Whether you're chatting over Zoom, spending time together at home, or if this is the first year without your mom — we honor all the women who made us who we are today. 💜
Meet four moms who stack sats (or frequently accumulate bitcoin), either by shopping online with Lolli or by purchasing it through a cryptocurrency exchange.
We talked about the highs and lows of motherhood, how they learned about bitcoin, and their favorite places to stack sats with Lolli.
Q&A With #MomsWhoStack
Meet Elsa Ramon
Elsa Ramon was the former weekend evening anchor for CBS in Los Angeles. She is a five-time Emmy Award nominee for her excellence in reporting and anchoring. She has worked as an anchor reporter in places like San Antonio, Phoenix, and Dallas in addition to LA.
Now, she shares stories about the social impacts of blockchain and cryptocurrencies in the U.S. and abroad.
Lolli: Why do you like bitcoin?
Elsa: When I learned about bitcoin almost two years ago, I was stunned. I was shocked at how little I knew about our financial system and how fiat really worked. It was as if a light switch was flipped. I didn’t look at anything the same again. I became a reporter because I have a strong sense of justice, and the more I learned about bitcoin, the more I recognized how it and its underlying technology, blockchain, could level the playing field for the average person and transform industries. Shedding light on the financial opportunity for average people to break out of a rigged financial system seemed like the ultimate justice to me.
Lolli: What is your favorite part of being a mother?
Elsa: My favorite part of being a mother is the pride and joy I feel when my kids are happy. I’m so proud of them. My 16-year-old daughter has Asperger’s and ADHD, but with the right therapy, she has excelled as a straight-A student, an artist and is at the top of her honors writing program at her performing arts High School. Having her in my life has taught me everyone has a different path to success, and all of them should be appreciated. Being neurotypical doesn’t guarantee success, and not being neurotypical doesn’t mean failure. My 7-year-old son is neurotypical and really funny. If you ask his sister, though, she’ll tell you he’s annoying. 😂
Lolli: What are your favorite stores to shop with on Lolli for yourself & your kids?
Elsa: I knew Lolli was exactly the story I wanted to tell when I first stumbled across the twitter account about a year-and-a-half ago. I immediately recognized this company knew what it was going to take to make people take that first step to owning bitcoin in a very low-risk way. I was completely honored to tell the story of how Lolli worked As part of the content we shot for our show. I actually avoided using Lolli because I never wanted anyone to accuse me of being biased while covering the story. But, I really enjoy telling everyone I know about it because I believe everyone at Lolli is on a mission to change the world, one sat at a time! I’m honored to know you all, and I’ll always be one of your biggest fans! 💜
Meet Gabbi Civils
If you're a Lolli user, you probably already know Gabbi. She runs Lolli's Customer Service team and helps you stack more sats on the reg. But did you know she's also a "cool mom." Check out her story of stacking sats below!
Lolli: Why do you like bitcoin?
Gabbi: I really started getting into bitcoin after beginning my job with Lolli in April of 2019. Prior to that BTC was just a mystical currency that I knew could be mined - which in my mind looked like a bunch of dudes sitting around, cranking keys on large computers. I started learning more about BTC and earned my first sats by shopping through Lolli. It's been an addiction ever since! Owning bitcoin is liberating, it's exciting, and fulfilling to be a part of the crypto community and feel like you are on the ground level (compared to most) of something. I look at bitcoin as an investment into my and my family's future.
Lolli: What is your favorite part of being a mother?
Gabbi: Having a baby - soon to be babies - is like having your heart outside of your body. Seeing my tiny grow into his own person and having a hand in his development is indescribable. Sure - my child has projectile vomited into my mouth (more than once), my body was shredded giving birth, and my own needs are now second to the toddler tyrant that roams my house - but being a mother is the single most fulfilling and rewarding thing I've ever done.
Lolli: What are your favorite stores to shop with on Lolli for yourself & your kids?
Gabbi: LOVE Postmates for those nights where cooking is not a priority, Carters for stocking up on the baby clothes, Nike when I am feeling fancy and wanting step up my shoe game, and Chewy for the fur babies!
Meet CryptoWendy
Wendy is a meetup host, trader, and marketer. She hosts The O Show, a daily YouTube show focused on daily bitcoin and crypto content for beginners. In addition to her professional endeavors, Wendy is a wife and mother. A true superwoman!
Lolli: Why do you like bitcoin?
I stack bitcoin because I believe that it is the tool needed to change the course of history. As a mother this is important to me because I want to give my kids the best future possible, I believe Bitcoin will help achieve that as we are currently watching our financial collapse.
Lolli: What's your favorite part of being a mother?
My favorite part of being a mommy is all the hugs and cuddles! There is nothing comparable to holding your child and nurturing them. The next best thing is teaching my babe, talking to her about life, and empowering her to follow her dreams as I am there rooting for her success!
Lolli: What are your favorite stores to shop with on Lolli for yourself & your kids?
I do not have a favorite retail store; I try to thrift shop first. But my favorite thing about Lolli is that they are partnered with so many different stores. When I shop online, I get an alert letting me know I can earn Bitcoin back. Last retail place I shopped at and stacked sats was Old Navy. I got my little one a swimsuit for water play in our backyard.
Meet Amanda Goetz
Amanda is the VP of Marketing @theknot and @weddingwire. She is currently working on building her next company and is a single mother of three (all under the age of six). Follow her raw insights into motherhood and building a business on Twitter.
Lolli: Why do you like bitcoin?
Amanda: We are in the early stages of bitcoin adoption. The entire idea of a digital currency that can unite the world is really inspiring and it’s cool to be at the forefront.
Lolli: What's your favorite part of being a mother?
Amanda: Being a mom is the best reminder of what life is about. Children approach everything with such enthusiasm, acute attention and curiosity. When I stop and watch them embrace life as it comes at them, I’m reminded of what really matters in life and it helps me stay grounded.
Lolli: What are your favorite stores to shop with on Lolli for yourself & your kids?
Amanda: We had to leave NYC abruptly due to the pandemic so I used VRBO to rent a house, RentalCars.com to get a car and then I ordered some cheap summer clothes on SHEIN. If I had to spend money, at least I could stack sats along the way. When I’m not in fight or flight mode, I love a good Nike or Lululemon spree! In fact, I think I’m going to go get a new workout outfit now as a Mother’s Day gift to myself!!
