What's Happening with Lolli: Your Questions Answered

We've received a lot of feedback since the most recent app update. This post aims to clarify any questions and provide users with a clearer understanding of Lolli's plans for the immediate term and its longer-term roadmap.

Most importantly, sats will always be king on Lolli. There is no second best.

Lolli is a Bitcoin rewards company designed to give you more ways to earn bitcoin. Everything we're building is in service of that mission.

So without further ado, here are details on withdrawals, Mezo, and new updates.

What is Mezo, and why do I need to use it?

Mezo is a Bitcoin sidechain. It's designed to enable Bitcoin-native financial services, like taking loans backed by your bitcoin.

Here's what you need to know:

  • No token required. Withdrawals use bitcoin only.
  • mats are loyalty points, not a cryptocurrency. Think of them like airline miles - they're a rewards system within Mezo, now available to Lolli users.
  • MUSD is a bitcoin-backed stablecoin. It works like when the US dollar was backed by gold: every MUSD is backed 1:1 by bitcoin reserves. You don't need to use MUSD to withdraw your sats from Lolli. However, if you ever need a loan against your BTC or would like to hold cash, it's available for you.
  • Withdrawal minimums: The higher withdrawal minimum (30k sats) was an unintended consequence of the new system. With Lightning support, we'll be able to lower the withdrawal minimum to give you more flexibility.

Mezo is an open network that works like Liquid or any other Bitcoin sidechain - it's the first withdrawal option we've enabled, but it won't be the last. You can withdraw your BTC from Mezo to any Bitcoin or EVM-compatible self-custodial wallet, or convert your sats to spend at thousands of merchants globally through Bitrefill.

If Mezo doesn’t sound like something you want to interact with, no problem. We’re launching additional withdrawal options soon, and you can wait for those to go live.

When is Lightning coming?

Soon. We hear the feedback loud and clear, and getting Lightning support up and running is our top priority at this time.

Here is an idea of the withdrawal roadmap:

  1. Lightning Network (coming soon)
  2. Additional Layer-2 options (following Lightning)
  3. Direct Layer-1 withdrawals with batching (so users don't have to pay high on-chain fees, and we can subsidize costs)

Why not support Lightning withdrawals first? We started with a sidechain (Mezo) because the infrastructure was already in place, and implementation was quicker. Lightning is next.

What happened to earn?

Earn is coming back to the mobile app soon.

Here's what works today:

  • Mobile: Stack sats in the arcade and with daily stack
  • Web extension: The same app as before, it just looks a little different.
  • Withdrawals: Now available to Mezo, and we are working to reduce withdrawal minimums to give you more flexibility.

We stripped down features during the rebuild to stabilize core functionality. Earn will be fully relaunched soon as we complete the infrastructure work.

How do I use my bitcoin on Mezo?

You have options:

Option 1: Withdraw to a Bitcoin wallet
You can withdraw your bitcoin from Mezo to a standard Bitcoin wallet and hold it in self-custody rather than on a third-party platform like Lolli, just as you would from any other sidechain.

Option 2: Spend directly with Bitrefill
In the Mezo market, you can purchase Bitrefill gift cards, which allow you to spend at major retailers globally, including Amazon, Uber, Target, Whole Foods, and hundreds more. This turns your sats into real-world purchasing power immediately. Purchasing Bitrefill gift cards starts at $25.

Option 3: Take out a bitcoin loan
Take out a loan against your bitcoin at a fixed 1% APR. Loan terms are transparent and publicly verifiable - no black boxes. Use your loan for whatever you want: pay bills, cover expenses, invest in opportunities, all while keeping your bitcoin. Borrowing starts at a minimum loan size of $1,800.

Why so many changes since the acquisition?

This is the question we've heard most.

We knew we wanted a system that was automated and fast, so users could get their sats as soon as possible. To do this, we had to start from scratch.

Our priority was to fix the plumbing first - to build a foundation that would let Lolli serve millions of users with same-day withdrawals, not weeks-long delays. The new system processes withdrawals in under 10 minutes, fully automated.

Where we go from here

We want Lolli to be the best Bitcoin rewards app out there. That means change. That means making it easier for you to live your life on Bitcoin.

If you want to use Lolli in its simplest form (spending, earning, and withdrawing directly to your wallet), you can do so today on Mezo - or wait for Lightning withdrawals. Direct Layer-1 withdrawals will be implemented at a later time.

If you want to do more with your bitcoin (take loans, participate in Bitcoin finance), Mezo gives you those options today. We're not forcing anyone onto a platform indefinitely. Mezo is the first option, not the only option. The full suite of withdrawal methods is coming.

A note on communication

We sent emails to active users before and after the acquisition. If you weren't actively using Lolli in the months leading up to the transition, you likely didn't receive those updates, which meant returning to find key features had changed without context.

Our goal was to minimize friction during this transition. We didn't hit that mark for everyone, especially users who had been inactive and hadn’t received our transition emails. If you're a long-time Lolli user who felt blindsided, that's valid, and we're sorry. Going forward, we'll make an effort to communicate more broadly about significant changes while still minimizing spam, regardless of recent activity.

Bottom line

We acquired Lolli because we believe bitcoin rewards are an essential part of Bitcoin’s future, and we're building the infrastructure to make that future work at scale. That requires short-term changes for long-term sustainability.
